Calciworms - the new alternative to mealworms
Calciworms are higher in calcium than mealworms and are a great option for treating your chickens, or indeed the wild birds!
My pair of garden hens are free to roam and forage the garden at will, and mixed corn and worms are given morning and evening to make sure they get enough sustenance. It is early days so far for the calciworms, but they don't dislike them, and don't seem to make any difference between the calciworms and their previous usual mealworms. If they don't like something, they just throw it out of their dish all over the floor of their shed. So all early signs say calciworms are a winner for them - and with higher calcium content, that is good for the old ladies making shells. Shaking the bag still gets them to come running.
